Inositol is a naturally occurring molecule with several forms, the most common of which is called myo-inositol. Inositol is often also identified as vitamin B7 because of its importance to our body, although it cannot properly be considered a vitamin because the human body can produce this molecule on its own from glucose. It is also found in some foods such as cereals and nuts, in fruits such as melons and oranges, as well as in meat. Myo-inositol performs its biological functions by integrating into the phospholipids of the cell membrane.  
An adequate intake of myo-inositol is important for maintaining women's well-being: altered metabolism or a deficiency of myo-inositol has in fact been observed in people with an altered response to sugars and in women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). For this reason, myo-inositol is increasingly used by women who wish to become pregnant, also in combination with folic acid supplements such as VITA FOLIC or VITA METAFOLIC.
