Appropriate vitamin supplementation for patients with CF, in a single capsule.

The prognosis of people with CF may be negatively affected by problems related to nutritional and absorption deficiencies: vitamin deficiencies are frequently found in patients with CF, even in the absence of pancreatic insufficiency.

Fat-soluble vitamins

Vitamin A
Its deficiency can cause visual impairment and alteration of the respiratory mucosecreting ciliated epithelium, whose cells are replaced by squamous cells.

Vitamin D
Its deficiency is significant from birth in 35% of children with Cystic Fibrosis. Its deficiency reduces bone calcification and can cause rickets and impaired growth in children, and osteoporosis and osteomalacia in adults.

Vitamin E
Its deficiency is found in 50% of children with CF diagnosed through screening. Vitamin E protects cell membranes by counteracting the effect of free radicals.

Vitamin K
Vitamin K plays a fundamental role in bone health and in preventing hemorrhagic manifestations.

Water-soluble vitamins

Changes in the intestinal bacterial flora can reduce the synthesis of B vitamins, which should be replenished according to the daily RDA.

Vitamin C
Oxidative stress is increased in patients with CF; improving antioxidant capacity is important for improving respiratory function. Vitamin C supplementation provides important support for antioxidant defenses. High levels of vitamin C are associated with better lung function.
