Aphthous ulcers are the most common lesions of the oral mucosa. In 80% of cases, the first canker sore appears before the age of 30. The condition can affect up to 60%* of the population; it is estimated that in one fifth of cases, episodes are frequent and recur over the years. The lesions resolve spontaneously, but promoting healing and counteracting the symptoms is important.

Predisposing factors:
