It has been known for centuries in traditional Indian medicine, where it has been used for a range of disorders mainly related to the nervous and emotional spheres. Turmeric (Curcuma longa L.) is also a plant known to traditional medicines, and its rhizome, as well as being used as a spice in food and cooking, has numerous beneficial properties for the body.
