Acidophilus is a food supplement containing probiotic microorganisms of the Lactobacillus acidophilus LA-5* strain useful for promoting the balance of the intestinal flora. Lactobacillus acidophilus is physiologically present in the human colon and at the vaginal level. This bacterial population is found in the colon until old age (when there are changes in the flora) and is influenced by various exogenous factors such as diet, antibiotics and stress. The microorganisms in this formulation are microencapsulated in a polysaccharide matrix which makes them gastro-resistant. This formula is free of lactose, lactoderivatives and wheat.
