The effectiveness and quality of a standardized Calendula extract mainly depend on the content of faradiol monoesters, components of a lipophilic nature which are difficult to extract with traditional methodologies.
CO2 extraction is an innovative, gentle and environmentally safe technology for the production of lipophilic plant extracts. The method, based on the use of carbon dioxide, separates bioactive materials from plant substances. Since the high pressure process works without the stress of high temperatures and in the absence of oxygen, the extracts obtained are sterile and do not need preservatives; the process also takes place in a closed circuit and does not involve any release of fumes or residues into the environment.

Traditional Calendula extracts are obtained through maceration in a lipophilic base (oil or lanolin), with the disadvantage of offering a very diluted extract, a partial presence of active ingredients (non-lipophilic), sometimes with the use of high temperatures. Other procedures are based on extraction with solvents: water and ethanol (hydroalcoholic) or glycol (glycolic). The extracts obtained contain only some of the active ingredients, often not titrated and "dirtied" by residues of the solvent used. The best technology to obtain a lipophilic Calendula extract is CO2 extraction.

Calendula CO2 extract is composed of 100% Calendula ingredients and can be used in a dermatologically active preparation, at very precise dosages.

colloidal extract of Propolis ACO2 1% (Italian organic propolis) obtained with a magneto-dynamic process, with a high content of bioflavonoids, organic acids and biologically active terpenes.

Calendula CO2 and Propolis ACO2 extracts can be useful in the treatment of sensitive, dry and chapped skin; to improve resistance against environmental pollutants or mechanical irritants (wind, cold, etc.).
