Description
Measuring CRP in whole blood, serum or plasma has 2 purposes:
1) CRP level helps identify and track infections and diseases that cause inflammation (lymphoma, lupus, giant cell arteritis, osteomyelitis, rheumatoid arthritis etc.)
2) the hs-CRP level helps evaluate cardiovascular risk and disorders of the peripheral cardiovascular system. Raised hs-CRP values have the highest risk of cardiovascular disease.
